Montreal-based fine jewelry brand Ecksand was recently granted the Canadian National Mark, a prestigious government-regulated designation for precious-metal products that confirms they are entirely made in Canada, with traceable materials, following stringent quality standards. The Canadian government has issued fewer than 110 National Mark certificates to date, and it is rare in the fine jewelry industry, says Ecksand cofounder and creative director Erica Bianchini.

Seven Southern California men have been indicted for their alleged involvement in what the Department of Justice (DOJ) has called “the largest jewelry theft in U.S. history”—the 2022 heist of $100 million in goods from a Brink’s armored car. Some of the stolen jewelry was recovered during the execution of search warrants on June 16, DOJ said.

On May 28, the U.S. Court of International Trade ruled that President Trump exceeded his authority when he imposed tariffs on nearly all imports entering the United States. The unanimous 3-0 ruling gives the Trump administration 10 days to halt the current 10% levies on virtually all imports coming to the United States. It also eliminates the steeper tariffs unveiled on April 2—which are currently under a 90-day pause—as well as new levies against China, Canada, and Mexico.
