Video shows man tearing apart AC units at local business, stealing materials

A man was caught on camera literally tearing apart AC units in the back of a local business Tuesday morning and taking off with the materials he wanted. This happened just outside of Angelea Kuruc’s bridal boutique, Blanc de Blanc on Brownsville Road in Carrick. She said she got an early morning phone call from an employee. “It is hard and to wake up to an employee calling, telling me someone is in the back, literally taking apart our property is just ridiculous,” Kuruc said.

The hum of generators is all too common on Locust Street in Emsworth. Neighbors like Stephen Wilson lost power last Tuesday, and six days later, the lights are still off. PITTSBURGH — Local grocery stores, including Giant Eagle, Kuhns and Shop ‘n Save, stepped up to help fill the fridges and freezers of those who lost hundreds of dollars’ worth of food when the power went out during Tuesday’s storms. We met Stephanie Walden at the Waterworks Market District. We saw employees handing out 15% off coupons as families entered the store. Some folks even lined up outside before the store’s 6 a.m. opening. “C’mon down because the savings are great!” Walden said.

A woman was seen on surveillance video stealing a large donation from a local non-profit for underprivileged children, Steel City Impact. The President of Steel City Impact was having dinner with his wife at Il Pizzaiolo in Warrendale when the owner of the restaurant gifted them a generous gift card and an expensive bottle of wine. They tucked the black bag under the table and left, accidentally leaving it behind.
Son likely saves father’s life in devastating house fire

A son’s quick thinking likely saved his dad’s life. Santiago Lecorchick, who goes by Santi, was up late Sunday night doing homework when he started to smell smoke. “I was like ‘what is that?’” Santi recalled. “And I heard a loud bang. I looked over and there was a huge cloud of black smoke billowing in from the door.”Santi says the ceiling in the basement started turning black. “I jumped out of my chair and ran upstairs,” Santi said.

The Catholic Diocese of Greensburg hosted a special mass on Monday to mourn the death of Pope Francis while celebrating his remarkable life. Easter Monday is typically a day of rest and reflection at Blessed Sacrament Cathedral, but, just one day after Easter, the pews were full of families looking to find community in each other. Front and center at the mass was a framed picture of Pope Francis with a black bow fastened beneath.
Search continues for person of interest in Rostraver woman’s murder

Investigators are continuing to search for the man they are calling a person of interest in the murder of 24-year-old Jennah Seibert of Rostraver. Monday, investigators released surveillance video from inside a Monongahela gas station, showing the person of interest after police said Seibert was murdered at her home on Lenity School Road. Her black Lexus SUV was also stolen and later recovered in Monongahela. In the video, the man is wearing all dark clothing.
Local groups petition to change well setback requirements

HARRISBURG, Pa. — Local families and environmental groups are fighting to increase the setback distance between unconventional wells and homes, schools, hospitals and daycares. Some of those groups, including the Environmental Integrity Project, were in Harrisburg Tuesday, where their petition to amend the law was heard by the Environmental Quality Board. Michelle Stonemark lives in Cecil Township. We first met her in 2019, when she was fighting the approval of a well pad in her backyard.
