Montreal police say they have arrested two people in connection with the deaths of a grandmother and granddaughter in December last year. The women, 73 and 22, were fatally shot in an apartment on Mullins Street in Montreal’s Pointe-Saint-Charles neighbourhood on Dec. 15, 2022.

Our parents’ and grandparents’ generations knew of them, but to my surprise not many people in our community - including a few local parishioners, ever heard of them.

Two cases of tuberculosis have been detected at Bordeaux Prison, also known as the Montreal Detention Centre, since the start of summer, according to exclusive reporting by Noovo Info. According to information obtained by Noovo Info, one of the sick inmates developed complications and had to be transferred to hospital. Public health officials confirmed the two positive cases. Prison nurses are also concerned they may have been infected.

Highway 13 in Montreal should reopen Thursday morning, Quebec's public security minister has confirmed. Francois Bonnardel gave an update on the flooding situation in the province Wednesday morning, after a record-breaking deluge Friday left many homes and roadways flooded and forced evacuations and road closures. Highway 13 has been completely closed between highways 40 and 520 since Friday.

Montreal police are investigating after shots were fired at a home in Kirkland early Tuesday morning. Several people called 911 at 1:25 a.m. to report hearing gunshots on Beaubois St. near Timberlea-Trail St., according to Montreal police spokesperson Antony Dorelas. Patrollers discovered bullet holes in the garage of a residence on the street and secured the perimeter. Investigators are reviewing surveillance footage and interviewing witnesses. No arrests have been made.
