    The A2 is closed in both directions following a crash. The road has been shut between the A227 for Gravesend and the M2 Junction 1 for Strood. National Highways predicts the road won’t reopen until around 10am. Police are at the scene and a diversion is in place. Those heading coastbound are advised to follow the 'Solid Circle' diversion symbol on road signsExit the A2 coastbound at the Marling Cross junction for Gravesend.

    Tributes have been paid to a popular husband, father and talented musician. Tony Totts passed away, surrounded by his family at home, on November 26. He was diagnosed with gastro-oesophageal junction cancer, a rare type that starts where the food pipe joins the stomach, last year. The 67-year-old was born in Shoreditch, London, but moved to Rochester in 1999. He married Maria in 1996 and together they had three children Fiona, Sophie and Dominic.

    A man has been jailed after making indecent images of children. Neil Pavitt, of Allen Street, Maidstone, was sentenced at Maidstone Crown Court last month. The 48-year-old “monster” faced charges of voyeurism and making indecent images of a child. He was sentenced on August 22 to two years and two months in prison. Pavitt was put on the sex offenders register for 10 years and given two sexual harm prevention orders and a forfeiture and destruction order relating to his laptop and phone.
