You’ll recognize Bru’s Wiffle by the line down the block. This breakfast-only fried chicken and waffles joint lives up to the hype - the fried chicken is always perfectly juicy, the waffles are fluffy, and you can easily stretch the giant serving into two meals. There are other options on the menu, but we can’t comment on them, because there is no point in ordering anything but the waffles.

When you tell people you’re visiting Berkeley, the first thing they usually say is, “You have to go to Cheese Board.” They’re not wrong. And before you start talking about wherever you’re from that does pizza better than Cheese Board, know that the people at Cheese Board are doing own thing, and they’re doing it very well. Las Perlas is a mezcal bar in DTLA with excellent drinks and a low-lit, divey atmosphere. It’s the perfect place to bring a date or a couple of close friends and find a booth or corner to hole up in. The mezcal-centered cocktail bar is the kind of spot downtown needs. E.R.B. is sort of a restaurant and sort of a bar - and all things wonderful. One of the original rooftop bars in DTLA, Perch has a French-leaning menu and views for days. Put it on your list for your next downtown date.
