It’s a battle of the First and Second Cities when the Chicago Cubs visit the New York Mets for the weekend. Better yet, the series opener on Friday night has something for everyone in New Yorker. No, Yankees fans aren’t suddenly becoming Mets fans while waiting for their 10:05 pm tilt with the Athletics. No, Chicagoans haven’t flocked to New York for a Citi Field invasion.

The New York Knicks made the Eastern Conference Semifinals an underdog story by winning an overtime stunner over the Boston Celtics in Game 1. Jalen Brunson and OG Anunoby each scored 29 points as Boston missed three after three, blowing a 20-point lead. Game 2 at TD Garden figures to be a lot different. The Celtics will reset and refocus, even if they’re a little banged up. Big man Kristaps Porzingis is sick but expected to play. Shooter Sam Hauser, however, is banged up with a sprained ankle.

The New York Yankees seek to avenge Monday’s heartbreaking, rain-soaked 4-3 loss to the Padres when righty Clarke Schmidt returns to the mound on Tuesday. On the Padres, side, however, is former Yankees top prospect and Schmidt’s former teammate, Michael King. Fans will recall King headlining the trade package New York sent to San Diego for Juan Soto in December 2023. This will be his first time facing his former team amidst a great start to his season.

Dear New York Yankees hitters,First off, solid start to the season. 19-16 isn’t ideal, but first place in the AL East is first place in the AL East with or without Juan Soto batting in front of Aaron Judge. Speaking of, let’s talk about Judge. Another great season in progress, this time batting over .400 with 11 homers, and it’s only May 6! The Yankees lead the American League in runs, batting average, and top all of baseball in home runs.

The New York Knicks are hoping the third time’s the charm as they make their third straight trip to the Eastern Conference Semifinals. This will prove their toughest battle yet as their opponent is their bitter rival, the Boston Celtics. Two years ago, against Miami, the Knicks simply weren’t ready for a deep playoff run. Last season, injuries to Julius Randle, Mitchell Robinson, and OG Anunoby derailed them against the Pacers. But now? The Knicks are as healthy as they can be.

I’ll keep this receipt for the next “Where Colin Was Wrong”

The Celtics should have to give 5/6 of their championships back. Humiliating L.

No disrespect but correction @RealMichaelKay. Jackson Merrill signed his extension in April 2025. Even took a shot at Juan Soto during his press conference announcing it

Clarke Schmidt has basically abandoned his sinker. Not sure why he'd do that
