The Norman Christmas Day Community Dinner Foundation will host its 38th annual dinner on Dec. 25, giving free meals for those who are alone or unable to cook on Christmas. The tradition started in 1987, when the Magarian family — a Norman family of six — organized a free community Christmas Day dinner at the St. Michael's Episcopal Church.

In 1954, the U.S. Supreme Court declared segregation in public schools was unconstitutional following Brown v. Board of Education. In 1948 — six years before the ruling — George McLaurin became the first Black student to attend OU. McLaurin had been denied admission at the university but finally enrolled after a federal court found his rejection unconstitutional.

From a young age, Katy Koontz was destined to be a Sooner. Born and raised in Norman, Koontz attended OU and was a part of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority. After earning her degree in public relations, she went on to work at United Way of Central Oklahoma for five years but later came back to her alma mater to work in OU Marketing and Communications.

OU paid Greg Lukianoff, author and president and CEO of the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression, $18,000 for his keynote address during Free Speech Week, according to documents OU Daily obtained Monday through an open records request. Lukianoff gave the keynote address Oct. 22, where he spoke on cancel culture and free speech at universities. After his 30-minute address, Lukianoff had a Q&A for 15 minutes where he addressed questions submitted before the event.
