Refusing to intervene in a lower court’s denial of bail to a lawyer booked under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act, the Madhya Pradesh High Court has observed that material seized from him “prima facie reveals that an attempt is being made” to disrupt communal harmony and establish a “Mughal order as it existed” before British rule in India. A Madhya Pradesh woman, whose “murder” had led to the arrest of four men in Jhabua district, reappeared — alive and well — at a police station in March this year. Her return, 18 months after she went missing, has forced the police to reopen their investigation. According to police records, a mutilated female body was recovered in Madhya Pradesh’s Jhabua district on September 9, 2023. It was purportedly identified by a family member as their 28-year-old relative who had gone missing days earlier.
