Police in Madhya Pradesh’s Mhow district said Sunday they are investigating allegations that the body of a newborn was mutilated by a stray dog at a government hospital. Hospital in-charge Dr H R Verma said a postmortem was conducted, and that a preliminary report suggested that the newborn was delivered prematurely. Hospital authorities claimed that the newborn was likely a stillbirth that took place in the hospital bathroom.
