    ROMEOVILLE, IL — At its April 28 meeting, the Valley View School District Board of Education said thank you and farewell to departing board members Victor Zack and Debbie Sykora.     ILLINOIS — A chilly morning will start the day on Friday before a "warming trend through the weekend and into early next week," according to the National Weather Service. The high for Friday is 70 degrees, 80 degrees on Saturday and 80 degrees on Sunday. The weather service said another "backdoor front" will cause falling temperatures on Saturday afternoon. The next few days will also be dry and sunny, with shower and storm chances returning toward the middle of next week.

    LOCKPORT, IL — Gunshots were reported near Arthur Avenue and Rosalind Street in Lockport Township on Thursday night, according to the Will County Sheriff's Office. Sheriff's deputies arrived and found about 20 spent handgun shell casings along Arthur Avenue, the sheriff's office said. Officers also discovered that a home in the 2100 block of Arthur had been struck by gunfire.
