Students are continuing to receive an outstanding level of post-16 education. Harington School in Oakham has retained the top rating following a short inspection by Ofsted. The sixth form college currently has 328 students and offers 18 different subjects - the most popular being maths, psychology and history. Ofsted inspectors Nikki Brady and Alison Loxton were impressed by the school’s exam results and its commitment to offering extracurricular opportunities.

The Rutland Walking and Cycling Festival programme is packed with activities for people to enjoy whatever their fitness level. This year also marks the 25th anniversary of the Rutland Round - a 65-mile route around the perimeter of Rutland which was created in 2000 by John Williams.

Volunteers who look after a recreation ground have explained the decision to close it early on Monday evening. Gates to the Abbey Lawn in Bourne were closed ahead of schedule as a result of antisocial behaviour in the park. Bourne United Charities employs a private security company to lock and unlock the gates each day. Trust manager Nick Legge explained that on Monday a group of young people were “giving the security guy the run around”, forcing him to start locking up early.

Experts will be on hand during the next six weeks to help people spot Stamford’s peregrine falcons. The birds have been nesting at All Saints’ Church where four chicks have hatched so far. From today until Friday, June 13 some of the Stamford Peregrines team will be on hand to answer questions and to help people to view the birds through a telescope. They will be positioned in Red Lion Square on Fridays between 10am until 2pm, subject to weather conditions and availability.

Her Batsh*t Bonkers Britain Tour will arrive at Stamford Corn Exchange Theatre this evening for a three-night run. “Bigots this way”, “racists welcome here” and “bigotry is lols” are among the phrases which have been daubed across the pavement in Broad Street this morning.
