    Thousands of taonga images showing different aspects of Māori life from the early 20th century, including people and kaupapa connected to Tairāwhiti, have been repatriated into public ownership. The Fairfax Archives collection of 5300 images, independently valued at $340,000, has come to be in public ownership through a deal between the foreign owner and the National Library of New Zealand.
