New Yorkers spend more money on lottery tickets than most other states, but just how much may surprise you. If you live in New York, it's pretty hard to escape the lottery. A Hudson Valley business is doing its part to help everyone beat the heat by handing out hundreds of ice-cold water bottles to anyone who needs them. On Monday, temperatures topped out in the upper 90s across New York State. In the Hudson Valley it was difficult to spend more than a few minutes outside without feeling the effects of the oppressive heat. Many people retreated to the comfort of their air-conditioned homes and workplaces, avoiding as much outdoor exposure as possible.
