A 5k to remember a mother who lost her battle to addiction. The 9th annual Summer Smith Addiction Awareness Memorial Run was held Saturday morning at Guilderland High School. The race is in memory of a woman who died in 2015 after a long battle with addiction. The goal is to raise awareness about the epidemic of substance abuse and support efforts for recovery. Proceeds from the race will be donated to the Addiction Care Center of Albany.
'Great Siena Expedition' welcomed young explorers to learn about the wonders of science

People climbed all 42 flights of stairs at the Corning Tower in downtown Albany. This physically-challenging event is a fundraiser for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The proceeds will go towards blood cancer research, support services, and education.

These scammers are contacting people by phone or e-mail, pretending to be a court official claiming you missed jury duty. They are also threatening to arrest you unless you pay a fine. The New York State court system will never ask you for money or personal information over the phone. If you do get an unsolicited call or e-mail asking for money and threatening an arrest, hang up or delete the e-mail.

Calling hours for the general public will take place for Chief Czerwinski on Sunday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Dery Funeral Home on Bradford Street. Funeral services will happen on Monday at 10 a.m. at Saint Joseph Church. Chief Czerwinski died peacefully on Tuesday after what the fire department called job-related cancer.

Albany Police tell us they are investigating a stabbing that happened Friday in the area of Clinton Avenue and Ontario Street. They say around 10:10 p.m., officers responded to the area for reports of a male that had been stabbed. Police say they located a 38-year-old man with a stab wound to the abdomen. The victim was treated on scene and taken to Albany Medical Center Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, said officials.
