Volunteers joined Nine Pin Ciderworks to help clean up the community ahead of Earth Day. This is Nine Pin’s 10th annual Earth Day clean-up event. Volunteers spent Saturday morning beautifying the warehouse district in Albany. The cidery provided tools and supplies to everyone who volunteered. Nine Pin’s co-owner says it is important to commit to sustainability and help the local environment.
UAlbany hosts first-ever SUNY E-Sports Tournament

More than 140 students came to UAlbany for the first-ever SUNY E-Sports Tournament. Players from 13 different schools faced off in a variety of games, like Valorant, Rocket League, Marvel Rivals, and Overwatch. Saturday was the finals for each of these video games. The semi-finals were on Friday. The tournament was held in UAlbanyâ€™s computer science building.
Law enforcement agencies taking part in 4/20 Stop DWI Day

Law enforcement is cracking down on people who may be driving high on 4/20. Agencies across the state are taking part in the 4/20 Stop DWI Day. Officers are pushing the message that just because marijuana is legal in New York, does not mean it is safe to drive while under its influence. Those who are celebrating 4/20 are urged to celebrate responsibly, without driving high, and plan a sober ride. The enforcement period runs through Monday, April 21.
Brush fire in Buskirk caused by malfunctioning train wheel

Fire crews responded to a brush fire in Buskirk that they say was caused by a malfunctioning train wheel. Firefighters from Pittstown and Buskirk responded to the train trestle by Turnpike Road at about 1:30 p.m. Friday.
Pittsfield Police arrest man on assault, weapon possession charges

Pittsfield Police arrested a man who they say displayed a gun during a domestic dispute. The Berkshire Eagle is reporting that 45-year-old Terrell Ortiz is charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon. Wednesday night, police say Ortiz attacked the victim with his hands but also had a gun with him. He was later arrested near his home on Francis Avenue. The gun was later found in his driveway. Investigators say the gun was stolen out of Clarksburg in 2017.
Officer-in-charge at Hoosick Falls PD placed on leave

The head of the Hoosick Falls Police Department has been placed on leave. Hoosick Falls Mayor Dan Schuttig posted on Facebook Saturday afternoon to let village residents know that the officer in charge of the department has been placed on administrative leave, and that there will be no comment beyond that. The mayor goes on to say that this will be handled in a professional manner by the village in conjunction with its attorneys.
Sen. Pat Fahy holding town hall in Canajoharie on Tuesday to discuss impacts of federal cuts in NYS

On Tuesday, Senator Pat Fahy is holding a town hall in Canajoharie to speak about the impact that federal cuts could have on services in New York State. She will be speaking at the Canajoharie Library from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. that night. Representatives from the State Attorney General’s Office are also expected to be there. Fahy says Congresswoman Elise Stefanik has also been invited.
Ellsworth Commons sent a 'thank you' to law enforcement by providing Easter baskets

Ellsworth Commons in Malta sent a “thank you” gift to the law enforcement agencies that responded to two violent incidents on back-to-back days. Residents at the apartment complex sent Easter baskets to the State Police Barracks and the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office. Ellsworth is where authorities shot and killed a 37-year-old man after he pointed what appeared to be a gun at officers. The day before, a 69-year-old was killed by State Police after he fired shots at the barracks.

Pittsfield Police are looking for someone in connection to a fraud case. Officers say the woman in the photo above used a fake ID to take out money from a bank. Police are asking for the public’s help to identify the woman in this photo. Two arrested following traffic stop in Kinderhook, crack cocaine in vehicle

State Police arrested two people in Kinderhook during a traffic stop. Around 4:40 p.m. Friday, troopers stopped Jose Sanchez and his passenger, Kenneth Douglas, on Route 9H near the Presidential Estates mobile home park. Inside the car, troopers say Sanchez had cocaine and crack cocaine with him, while Douglas had a crack pipe.
