An arsonist is said to have deliberately set a tent alight while a homeless person was still inside. Emergency services were called to an incident in Grantham’s South Lodge Park, known locally as The Paddocks, in the early hours of today (Tuesday June 3). A man in his 40s was in one of the tents used by homeless people as it went up in flames — but is said to have escaped with no serious injuries.

Three South Holland sites have been promoted to investors as part of a push to boost the county’s economy. A total of 17 opportunities from across Lincolnshire were presented by Greater Lincolnshire Combined County Authority (GLCCA) and Mayor Andrea Jenkyns at an annual real estate investor forum called UKREiiF. While Stamford, Boston and Bourne did not feature on the list presented at the event in Leeds, there was one location in Spalding, one in Pinchbeck and one in Holbeach put forward.

Published: 05:00, 29 May 2025 Timing is everything, apparently. Well, it certainly was for our visit to the Petalo Lounge in Spalding. Had we arrived much later for our brunch, we’d have struggled for a table. It’s always a good sign when a place is as busy as this venue - which is next to Springfields in Camel Gate. The decor could probably also be classified as ‘busy’ too - but not in a bad way.

A £23 million investment will be made at Boston’s Pilgrim Hospital to help make the facility greener. The funding will pay for a range of measures including an electrically powered heating and hot water system across the site. Bosses argue that this will help to reduce the hospital’s reliance on fossil fuels and will significantly improve the critical infrastructure across the site.

Police want to hear from anyone who may have seen a crash involving an e-scooter and a push bike. Officers say the incident happened at about 4.20pm on Tuesday (May 20) on the footpath in the Tesco supermarket car park in Godsey Lane, Market Deeping.
