    Bank bosses have announced that a town Halifax branch is set for closure. The Spalding location, in Bridge Street, is destined to close on April 18 next year – one of 22 Halifax branches set to be axed by parent company Lloyds Banking Group in 2024. The nearby branch in High Street, Stamford will also shut – with a March 14 closure date. In both towns, customers have been promised they will get access to a ‘Community Banker’.

    Six men have been released on bail – and another ‘de-arrested’ – as investigations into a fatal collision. One man died after his car crashed and was left overturned in a water-filled ditched in Tongue End on Friday afternoon. Two police officers went into the water at the scene – at Counter Drain Drove – to try to save him, but their rescue bid was in vain. Seven men were arrested following the incident – and police have, this afternoon, issued an update on the case.

    A village football club is delighted with the success of its young female players – with one invited to a special Future Lionesses event while others have signed for city clubs. Ivy Lane (15), of Cowbit, who plays right-wing for Moulton Chapel Football Club’s under 15 girls’ team, was invited to the FA Women’s England Talent Pathway ‘Future Lionesses’ Talent ID Event, for the Midlands and East Region, in Milton Keynes, earlier this month (November 11).

    An RAF officer has spoken of her pride at attending a special reception hosted by HM King Charles III and Queen Camilla in recognition of her contribution to three historic royal events. Squadron leader Sharon Ingle, 44, who grew up in Holbeach, led the Commonwealth liaison team, which was responsible for looking after the Commonwealth personnel who attended Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee, her state funeral and the King’s Coronation.
