The National Labor Relations Board on Tuesday filed civil contempt of court charges against the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette for what it said is the newspaper’s refusal to comply with a federal court order to restore health insurance the company illegally took away from its workers in 2020. The charges could result in daily compounding fines if the Post-Gazette continues to ignore the decision from the U.S. Third Circuit Court of Appeals.

On June 9, 2025, the Department of Justice (DOJ) issued new guidelines for investigations and enforcement of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), following a four-month pause of new FCPA investigations per President Donald Trump’s February 10 executive order. The new guidelines provide a nonexhaustive list of factors for prosecutors to consider when deciding whether to pursue an FCPA investigation.

More than 10,000 people in Pittsburgh joined others nationwide Saturday peacefully protesting against what rally-goers and speakers called the increasing authoritarianism of President Donald Trump’s administration. Large demonstrations have taken place across the country in recent days amid the federal government’s crackdown on immigration, including in Los Angeles, where the president called in the National Guard and the Marines to quell protests.

Pittsburgh will soon join the growing list of cities with large-scale protests against the Trump administration. The 50501 protest movement will hold a so-called “No Kings” rally and march from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the City-County Building in Downtown to rebuke what it deems “rising authoritarianism.” “People of all political stripes who oppose the erosion of democratic norms and the rise of authoritarianism are welcome,” rally organizers said in a news release.
