A new UCLA-Rand study supports a real estate industry argument that additional costs from the “mansion tax” have made it too tough to profit on many developments, thus killing potential deals. A for-sale sign is posted in the 500 block of East Las Flores Drive in Altadena. The first vacant lot in Altadena went up for sale in late January. Now the floodgates appear open. “There is so many to choose from,” said Jeremy Hardy, a real estate agent with Craig Estates & Fine Properties.
