“So thankful for everything our senior class did for our program. Forever proud to call them Terriers,” the message read, along with a group shot of Billy Girard IV, Matt Copponi, Brehdan Engum, Jack Page, Jack Hughes, Tristan Amonte, and Mathieu Caron. Significant losses for sure, but the departures will extend far beyond that for the Terriers, as they do for every team these days. Junior forward Ryan Greene signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday.

ST. LOUIS — Boston University’s bid for a sixth national championship was denied Saturday night, the Terriers falling short to Western Michigan, 6-2, at Enterprise Center. The Terriers (24-13-2) entered the third period trailing 3-2, and appeared to have a chance to tie it when Cole Hutson flipped a pass to an open Cole Eiserman, but Western Michigan goalie Hampton Slukynsky (24 saves) came up with the key stop on the one-timer.

ST. LOUIS — Ryan Greene had a decision to make after the Boston University men’s hockey team’s season-ending loss to Denver in the 2024 Frozen Four in St. Paul, Minn. Each of his first two seasons with the Terriers ended with a loss, one game shy of playing for a national championship. Classmate Lane Hutson didn’t waste much time, signing with the Canadiens the following afternoon.

The disparity does not get much bigger when it comes to Saturday’s NCAA men’s hockey national championship game between Boston University and Western Michigan. The Terriers are in their 103rd season and are playing in their 25th Frozen Four and their 12th national title game in program history. BU beat Penn State on Thursday to advance to the championship. Western Michigan is making its Frozen Four debut. The Broncos vanquished Denver in double overtime on Thursday.
