    WEBSTER PARISH, La. (KSLA) - The Webster Parish Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating two incidents involving officers reportedly shootings dogs. One of those dogs is dead, according to its owner. The first incident happened May 20 in Sarepta. Trinity Moore and her husband say they were woken up by Sarepta police officer, Joe Morgan. According to Moore, Officer Morgan had a shotgun in his hands and told the couple he’d just shot their dog. He also reportedly asked for Moore’s husband’s ID.

    BOSSIER CITY, La. (KSLA) - The inaugural year for the Great Louisiana Fair is kicking off Friday, May 30. On opening night, organizers are offering discounts for local families. “Beginning with our huge opening night blowout discount on May 30th, we’re providing local families the ability to visit the fair affordably,” said marketing manager, Ron Weber. On opening night, guests can get tickets for admission and unlimited rides for $10 per person.

    Texas (KSLA) - The Texas House of Representatives has passed a bill prohibiting people under age 18 from creating or using social media accounts. House Bill 186 was authored by Rep. Jared Patterson. It aims to address the concern that social media has a negative impact on the mental health of young people. The bill was passed in a 116-25 vote with support from both sides of the aisle. The bill is now being heard in the Senate.

    SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - Heavy rain brought flooding to Shreveport-Bossier Friday (May 2). Along Youree Drive in Shreveport, a school bus was caught in heavy floodwater around 4 p.m. and got stuck in a ditch. Only three people were on the bus at the time of the incident, the driver and two children. Shreveport Fire Department rescue crews worked quickly to retrieve the driver and students from the bus.

    SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - A Shreveport nonprofit took to social media Tuesday, April 29 to share that they will lose funding due to the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) cuts. Shreveport Green stated that DOGE had terminated $400 million in federal funding for AmeriCorps programs nationwide, including ShreveCorps. The nonprofit says this isn’t just a loss of funding—it’s a loss of opportunity, resilience, and hope for the neighborhoods that need it most.
