AUSTIN (KSLA) - The State of Texas has 1,155 new laws after Governor Greg Abbott signed them following the conclusion of the 89th Regular Legislative Session. The governor also vetoed 26 bills. A special session, which is set to begin Monday, July 21, has also been called by the governor. “Working with the Texas Legislature, we delivered results that will benefit Texans for generations to come,” said Gov. Abbott.

SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - Five people have been arrested and charged in connection with the 2024 killing of a Shreveport teen in Arlington, Texas. According to CBS, five people are being charged with capital murder in connection with the double shooting that left Dayton Allen, 19, of Shreveport, and his girlfriend, Alexis Tyler, 18, dead.

SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - Two men have been arrested by the Shreveport Police Department after a chase with officers. Police say around 3:30 a.m. Friday, June 20, officers were sent out to the Highland neighborhood after getting multiple calls about gunshots being fired. CRIME IN THE ARKLATEXWhen officers got there, they reportedly found shell casings in the street and got a description of the car believed to be involved. While searching the area, officers head more gunshots nearby, officials say.

(KSLA) - After his team’s historic NAIA National Championship win, LSU Shreveport men’s baseball head coach, Brad Neffendorf, has been named the 2025 Skip Bertman Coach of the Year by the College Baseball Foundation (CBF). The LSUS Pilots played a perfect 59-0 season, with 47 regular season wins and 30 wins in the Red River Athletic Conference.

SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - Bernie Sanders is visiting Shreveport Saturday, June 21. Ahead of his visit, a billboard from Speaker of the House Mike Johnson’s team appeared in the city. The billboard, located on I-20 W, says “No thanks, Bernie. We’ll pass on socialism and a $1,300 tax increase. #OneBigBeautifulBill”The billboard also says at the bottom that it was paid for by Mike Johnson for Louisiana. KSLA reached out to Johnson’s team Friday, June 20 for a statement about why the billboard was put up.
