    GREENWOOD, La. (KSLA) - Fentanyl can pose a danger not only to those using it, but also to first responders who may unknowingly encounter the drug. The Greenwood Police Department learned this firsthand when three of its officers had to be taken to the hospital after an accidental exposure during a recent traffic stop. Four people were arrested during this incident. Greenwood Police Chief Shayne Gibson says his department has had some training when it comes to handling potentially dangerous drugs.

    SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - Several arrests were made Easter Sunday in Shreveport after a call about drag racing led to a police chase involving a stolen SUV. The Shreveport Police Department says on Sunday, April 20 just after 6:20 p.m., an officer and his K-9, Edy, were patrolling the 6500 block of Kennedy Street after getting complaints about drag racing in the area. While patrolling, they spotted a stolen Dodge Durango and tried to pull it over.

    SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - A student at a Shreveport high school was arrested Thursday, April 17 after reportedly bringing a gun on campus. The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office says the school’s resource officer was alerted by an assistant principal at the school about a tip concerning a 15-year-old student who had reportedly been seen with a gun on campus. The SRO was able to find the student without incident, and found a handgun in his possession, the sheriff’s office says.

    NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, Texas (KSLA) - Sixteen people in east Texas are facing federal charges as part of a widespread methamphetamine trafficking ring, Acting U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Texas Abe McGlothin Jr. says. The indictment was returned by a federal grand jury April 2, charging the 16 defendants with federal drug and gun crimes. Multiple law enforcement agencies helping arrest these individuals on April 16. The investigation started back in November of 2022, the DA’s office says.
