The DC Universe is no stranger to multiple versions of heroes, multiple Earths, and an out-of-control sense of continuity. Occasionally, DC will release an event that unites heroes from different Earths to create a new continuity. Many of these events center around the Flash and Barry Allen's choices. Crisis on Infinite Earths in 1985 was DC's first multiverse story that resulted in a new Earth. Barry Allen died during that event.
