The Victoria Royals will have a happy bus-ride home, after a 5-1 victory in game 2 against the Spokane Chiefs. The Royals win in Spokane, WA, ties that Western Hockey League (WHL) Western Conference semi-final series at one. The Chiefs won the series opener Sunday, 4-3 in double-overtime. But for the second straight night, the Royals opened the scoring, with Kenta Isogai recording his fourth goal of the playoffs, for a 1-0 Royals lead in the first period.

For the first time since 2019, the Victoria Royals will be playing in the second round of the Western Hockey League Playoffs. NHL Draft prospect Cole Reschny had four assists and goalie Johnny Hicks made 35 saves in a 7-0 Royals win over the Tri-City Americans, in game 5 of their first round series in Kennewick, Washington. The Royals clinch the best-of-seven, four-games-to-one.

There was a dash of excitement and a brief delay for people travelling between Swartz Bay and Tsawwassen on Wednesday afternoon. Passengers aboard the 5 p.m. BC Ferries sailing between Victoria and Vancouver were told by the captain that they were stopping to come to the aid of a family on a motorboat that was taking on water.
