A Tehama County supervisor is under investigation after being accused by fellow board members of driving under the influence. Four Tehama County supervisors allege Pati Nolen left a cup smelling of alcohol at her seat after a meeting in late March. The supervisors contacted authorities since Nolen was seen entering a vehicle after the meeting. Nolen was pulled over by the Red Bluff Police Department several hours later.

Cal Poly Humboldt's interim president says the university is under formal investigation over alleged antisemitism. President Michael Spagna says the Department of Education is looking into a federal civil rights complaint filed against Cal Poly Humboldt and other universities by "Jewish on Campus" and the Louis D. Brandeis Center, a nonprofit focused on civil and human rights for Jewish people.

Shasta County’s assistant registrar of voters has been fired from her position. Joanna Francescut was notified of her termination yesterday after being the assistant registrar for 17 years. She ran to take over the top role after former registrar Thomas Toller stepped down, but lost to Florida-based attorney Clint Curtis after a decision by county supervisors. Curtis has no prior election experience, or connection with Shasta County.

With forecasts of hot temperatures this week, the Plumas County Public Health Agency is urging residents to protect themselves from mosquito and tick bites. Mosquitoes can transmit West Nile Virus, which can lead to serious medical complications for people over 50 or with a compromised immune system. The California Department of Public Health advises using mosquito repellent on skin and clothing and wearing long sleeves and pants outdoors for protection.

Many North State residents will be heading to local rivers and waterways this Memorial Day weekend, and officials are urging them to be cautious. A group of tubers had to be rescued from the Sacramento River earlier this week after becoming caught on debris. The Butte County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue Team says anyone on the river should know how to steer their boat or tube and should wear a flotation vest. There’s also an alcohol ban on the river, so drinks should be enjoyed on land.

Some residents needing behavioral health or crisis services in the Yuba-Sutter area now have less hope of getting them. The CEO of Adventist Health Rideout told the Yuba City council this week it would not continue to support Project Hope. That would’ve seen the conversion of the former Fremont Hospital in Yuba City into a behavioral health facility for underserved and homeless residents. One phase of the project — a 22-bed sobering center — will move forward.

For more than a decade, Pat Hull’s music has been deeply ingrained in Chico’s music landscape. Now, with new music out and some life changes he’s not sure where this new journey may lead him. It’s a busy time for Hull. He’s an educator at Chico State and a father at home, working tirelessly to find a balance between his life’s endeavors. “I am a father of three children, and I rarely find the time and the environment to create,” Hull said.
