Cameron Marks, a director of Percy Marks – a jewellery store established in Sydney in 1899 – has resigned. Marks joined the JAA’s board in May 2017 and until his resignation, was the longest continually serving director. A brief stint with the JAA has also ended for Meredith Doig, who joined the board in September 2022. Her appointment was not without controversy. Doig promotes herself as a board governance expert and her JAA profile page listed her as a 'Professional Company Director & Consultant'.

Hosted at the Melbourne Exhibition and Convention Centre from Saturday (1 February) until Monday (3 February), the industry embraced the opportunity to gather for the first time since the turning of the calendar. There was a distinct focus on education at this year’s event, with daily presentations on store design and marketing, business management, and legal trading requirements. As is always the case with jewellery fairs, the reception among exhibitors and retailers was mixed.

RR Auction in Boston is offering a GMT-Master ‘Pepsi’ model watch, which Edgar Mitchell, the sixth man to walk on the Moon, owned. The watch is named ‘Pepsi’ from its blue and red bezel. “This incredibly rare watch, part of Mitchell’s personal collection, is one of only two Apollo-flown Rolex watches ever sold at auction,” RR Auction writes.
