CIUDAD JUAREZ – It may seem like a typical border watering hole, but inside lies old secrets like the invention of the perfect margarita. Thirsty customers make pilgrimages from all over the world to test those beliefs. “We are very delighted to have visitors from Dallas, so we want to show them the place,” said Juarez resident Rafael Hernandez, as he and his wife introduced their friends, Stephanie Brancher and Scott Bernardi to the Kentucky Club.

The gunman who carried out the August 3, 2019 mass shooting at an El Paso Walmart killing 23 people has been transferred to the custody of the state of Texas to begin serving 23 life sentences. Now 26, Patrick Crusius pleaded guilty Monday to capital murder and 22 counts of assault with a deadly weapon. He then listened listened to victim impact statements from relatives of those gunned down and survivors of the attack.

The City of El Paso Department of Public Health confirmed three additional measles cases Friday brining the total identified cases to five so far The new cases involve a 1-year-old boy, a woman in her 30s, and a man in his 40s. The child and woman are unvaccinated. The vaccination status of the man is currently unknown according to health authorities.

MISSION, TEXAS – Even as President Trump was vowing hellfire for the trade that has forged the U.S.-Mexico border into a business beehive, crews proceeded laying cement for yet another road to channel foreign cargo crossing deep into the American heartland. Much of the new road will run atop levees built long ago to tame the once-menacing border stream. It’s but the latest to be thrown up along the entire border since free trade with Mexico became law three decades ago.
