Introduction People's ability to assess their own skills has interested researchers for decades, including those in the fields of second language (L2) learning and testing. Similarly to other domains, L2 users seem to be unaware of their language skills and to engage in flawed self-assessment behavior, such that people's self-assessments differs considerably from external measures of performance (most frequently operationalized as listener-based assessments and referred to as other-assessment).
