    NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - A Lowcountry Girl Scout leader has been recognized with the highest honor the organization awards. Tracy Robinson-Hughes of Hanahan is the leader of the Girl Scout Troop at Royal Missionary Baptist Church in North Charleston. She has been the head of the troop there for more than 10 years. She received the Mary Dean Brewer Woman of Distinction Award from the Eastern South Carolina region at a ceremony in Florence on July 10.

    CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - A long-time Lowcountry educator and her late husband are being honored in a special way. They are featured in an annual calendar that recognizes the contributions and accomplishments of African Americans across the state. The calendar is sponsored by the South Carolina Department of Education. “But I loved the Tennessee Waltz and my husband, Modie, he loved the waltz,” DeLaris Risher said. Risher and her late husband loved to dance. They also loved people and education.
