SAN FRANCISCO — Two Goodwill facilities in the Bay Area will close later this spring, eliminating 90 jobs, according to state records. The shuttering locations include Oakland Goodwill on 30th Avenue in Oakland and the Goodwill Training & Career Center on Post Street in San Francisco, according to a state Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification dated Monday. Both facilities will close June 7, affecting 72 employees in Oakland and 18 in San Francisco, the notification said.

CHICAGO — A police chase Monday in downtown Chicago ended with law enforcement shooting a wanted man inside a hotel, according to police and media reports. Officers saw the person, who was armed with a knife, around 2:30 p.m. on West Hubbard Street, police said, adding they chased the fleeing person into a business on East Hubbard Street, identified by WLS as the Courtyard by Marriott hotel.

CHEVY CHASE, MD — A 29-year-old from Simi Valley pleaded guilty Tuesday to plotting to kill U.S. Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, according to authorities. He arrived around 1 a.m. June 8, 2022 and was seen wearing black clothing as he exited the taxi by two deputy U.S. marshals protecting the home, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.

OLYMPIC VALLEY, CA — A 26-year-old woman from San Francisco died after suffering a head injury Saturday at Palisades Tahoe, according to reports. Ellery Dolan Curtis was injured on terrain accessed via the KT-22 chairlift around 3:45 p.m., FOX 40 reported. Curtis captained the women’s alpine ski team at Dartmouth College before graduating in 2022, and came in eighth as a senior in the NCAA Championships for the giant slalom, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

LOS ANGELES — A baby and a man died in a wrong-way overnight crash in the Vermont Square neighborhood, according to authorities, who said a second man and a woman were in critical condition. The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. in the 4600 block of South Western Avenue, authorities said. A vehicle was speeding north on Western Avenue and veered into oncoming traffic, colliding head-on with a second vehicle, according to police.
