Today, Thursday 17th August, pupils return to school to collect their A-level results and find out if they will get into the university of their choice. We share the 2023 results for Independent schools around the UK. Farnborough Hill, Hampshire90% of A-level results achieved were A*-C. Almost half of all grades awarded were A* or A, with 26.1% of grades at A* level.

As a member of the International Coalition of Girls’ Schools (ICGS), Northampton High School staff attended their conference in Cleveland, Ohio. Head of Junior School, Emily Hair, and Trust Consultant Teacher, Debbie Hill both attended the conference on behalf of the school and shared their own research with educators around the world. Twenty-three fellow GDST schools took part in the event, which took place across three days.

DLD College has achieved a remarkable 100% pass rate in its International Foundation Programme (IFP). What is an International Foundation Programme? The programme is a one-year course that is offered as an alternative to taking A-levels, for international students. Every programme has core skill modules that will help prepare students for their future university studies. What were this year’s results? A third of the students in the IFP received Distinction grades.

Northampton High School celebrated their pupils’ achievements with an inspirational speech and a prize giving ceremony. The event was a time to ‘reflect on a marvellous year’ and the school was delighted to welcome keynote speaker, Mandy Hickson. Mandy Hickson spoke about the challenges she has faced as a female fighter pilot. All those in attendance were amazed at her resilience and the pupils were left inspired.

The Clipper Race is a challenge that involves sailing 40,000 nautical miles around the world on a 70-foot yacht. This year’s route will start in Portsmouth and take the sailors to ports in Uruguay, South Africa, Australia, Vietnam, China and USA. An alumnae of Monmouth School for Boys will be sailing around the world in the 2023 Clipper Race. The 20-year-old Angus was chosen as one of 11 professional sailors to take part in the Clipper Race on the 3rd September.
