    Long Beach police say they’ve arrested three gang members believed to be responsible for a shooting in March that left a beloved street vendor dead. James Havlicheck, 33, of Lakewood, Raylon Akers, 23, of Los Angeles, and Rahman Abdallah, 19, of Long Beach were arrested Thursday in connection to the fatal shooting of Yener Ramirez Miranda, 37, of Wilmington on March 20.

    Local Democratic officials thanked President Joe Biden for his decades of service following his announcement Sunday to not seek reelection in November. β€œI believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down and focus solely on fulfilling my duties as President for the remainder of my term,” Biden said in a letter posted on his X (formerly Twitter) account Sunday.     It’s shortly before noon on Wednesday and there are at least a dozen people in line, stretching from the register to the middle of the parking lot. This was expected; while there are taquerias all over Long Beach — great taquerias, to be sure — Guisados is a whole other ball game. First opened in Boyle Heights in 2010, the taqueria has expanded into a full-on chain, with Long Beach providing its ninth location at the end of May (within the old Long Beach Fish Company restaurant in Zaferia).

    Lloyd Dangle was still a boy when his father took him to the Detroit Institute of the Arts. There, in the courtyard of the gorgeous white marble Beaux-Arts building that dated to 1927, Dangle gazed up at the massive Diego Rivera mural illustrating how the automotive industry works. The mural begins with ore in the ground and goes all the way to giant machines requiring hundreds of workers to operate. “When I looked at this as a kid, I was fascinated,” Dangle recalls.
