    Long Beach Airport is releasing a series of commemorative posters this week to celebrate the 100-year history of the airport and residents and visitors can get their copies this weekend at the grand opening of the renovated historic terminal building. The first poster titled “Early Days of Aviation” was released Monday by the airport and shows an early Curtiss Flyer Model D flying over the shoreline in Long Beach with other planes parked on the sand.     Long Beach police say they’ve arrested three gang members believed to be responsible for a shooting in March that left a beloved street vendor dead. James Havlicheck, 33, of Lakewood, Raylon Akers, 23, of Los Angeles, and Rahman Abdallah, 19, of Long Beach were arrested Thursday in connection to the fatal shooting of Yener Ramirez Miranda, 37, of Wilmington on March 20.

    Dana Point will be the starting location of one man’s 3,000-mile expedition. Army veteran Jack Huffman will embark on a walk from Dana Point Strands to Washington, D.C., beginning on March 14,  and he will try to average 55 miles per day to break the world record for a solo transcontinental walk, according to a press release. “I'm looking to finish at our nation's Capital, kind of try to wake America up,” Huffman said in a phone interview with Dana Point Times.

    A helicopter crash killed 29 American and South Korean Marines during a Marine Corps’ training exercise on March 24, 1984 in South Korea. To honor the fallen, a monument ceremony will be held on March 8 at the 5th Marine Regiment Memorial Garden in Camp San Mateo, Camp Pendleton, according to a press release. According to the press release, 12 of the 18 Americans lost from the accident were part of the Lima Company, 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment.
