HARLAN COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - Harlan County’s school board unanimously selected Brett Johnson as the district’s 19th superintendent. He will officially start on July 1 with a four-year contract. He will take over for Brent Roark. Johnson brings 24 years of experience to the district. He started as a middle school math teacher, and he most recently served as assistant superintendent and director of pupil personnel.

MAGOFFIN COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - One Magoffin County man was arrested after he reportedly threatened to burn his parents’ house down with them inside of it. Police received a call about the incident on June 8 at a home in Salyersville. According to an arrest citation, the parents of Matthew Helton told police he had come to their home and was irate about an Xbox card. Helton’s parents said they were truly scared he would burn the house and lock them inside.

PULASKI COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - A man indicted for murder in Pulaski County appeared in court. According to an indictment, Ralph Letner intentionally caused the death of his wife back in April. Officials arrested Letner after they said they found his wife with a gunshot wound. Deputies with the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office said a neighbor told them Letner came to their house and admitted to killing her. A pretrial hearing was scheduled for Letner for Sept. 11. PULASKI COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - One Burnside man was arrested after he was accused of stealing a side-by-side from a self-storage facility in Somerset. Deputies with the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office responded to the incident on June 9. It happened at Monster Storage off of KY-914. During their investigation, police said they received footage of a man, later identified as Daulton Huling, riding a bicycle through the storage facility property on June 6.
