WYMT-TV, also known as channel 57, is a television station affiliated with CBS that serves the Eastern Mountain Coal Fields area in Kentucky. It is based in Hazard and transmits a high-definition digital signal on VHF channel 12 from a transmitter located just south of the city in Perry County. The station is owned by Gray Television and is a sibling station to WKYT-TV, which is CBS's affiliate in Lexington.

    HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) - The Housing Development Alliance is continuing its summer internship program. This year, the program was renamed the Sam Smith Memorial Internship. It is in honor of 2023 summer inter Sam Smith who died in 2024. Smith was in the foster care system, completed the internship, and was hired on as a full-time carpenter. HDA Executive Director Scott McReynolds said the name change is to remember Smith and to give a chance to kids who grew up in the foster care system.

    KNOTT COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - Members of Hindman Methodist Church celebrated Good Friday with their annual cross walk. It is a tradition the church has done for more than 20 years. Just after sunrise, the group gathered in prayer before setting out on a 20-mile journey from the Knott County line to the Floyd County line. Along the way, they took turns carrying a large wooden cross, stopping every few miles to worship and reflect.

    WAYNE COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) - A juvenile has died after what state police investigators believe was an accidental shooting in Wayne County. West Virginia State Police reported that three people were inside a car just before midnight in Genoa along Joels Branch Road when a gun went off. Troopers said one of the people inside the car was showing his gun to the teen, when the gun went off, hitting the juvenile in the stomach. The juvenile died on the way to the hospital, troopers confirmed on Friday.
