According to the department, one man is wanted for questioning relating to thefts at two separate businesses in Corbin. On the department’s Facebook page, they shared two images from security cameras of the individual. HARLAN COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - A fire at a substation in Harlan temporarily knocked out power to thousands of customers, and officials believe a squirrel may be to blame. The fire broke out around 11:20 a.m. Wednesday at one of the city’s larger substations, according to Kentucky Utilities spokesperson Daniel Lowry. The incident caused a transformer to catch fire, triggering outages for approximately 6,600 customers.

HARLAN COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - Harlan County’s school board unanimously selected Brett Johnson as the district’s 19th superintendent. He will officially start on July 1 with a four-year contract. He will take over for Brent Roark. Johnson brings 24 years of experience to the district. He started as a middle school math teacher, and he most recently served as assistant superintendent and director of pupil personnel.
