BOSTON — People flocked to City Hall Plaza Friday for the start of Fan Fest ahead of the 129th Boston Marathon. The three-day, free celebration, which is hosted by the Boston Athletic Association, offered runners and non-runners alike an opportunity to get in on the marathon excitement through live music, games, food, and plenty of selfie-worthy opportunities.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — The battle between the Trump Administration and the country’s oldest higher learning institution continues to escalate. On Wednesday, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) threatened to revoke Harvard University’s ability to enroll foreign students if the school doesn’t comply with their demands. Secretary Kristi Noem sent a letter to Harvard demanding detailed records of “foreign student visa holders’ illegal and violent activities” to be turned over by April 30.

BOSTON — John Murphy, 51, became the first person in Massachusetts to receive a federal sentence for possessing dogs and for participating in a dogfighting venture, according to a release from the Department of Justice. U.S. Senior District Court Judge William G. Young sentenced Murphy on April 9th to one year and one day in prison. The father of four was also ordered to pay a $10,000 fine and prohibited from possessing pit-pull type dogs.
