GLOUCESTER, Mass. — To visit Gloucester public beaches from Memorial Day through Labor Day, non-residents are now paying $10 more for a daily parking pass, according to the City of Gloucester’s website. The current rate is $45 for non-residents on weekends and holidays; $40 for the week. This change stems from a decision made by Gloucester City Council members back in January.

LEXINGTON, Mass. — Lexington police are investigating more than 50 reports of car thefts and break-ins that happened in the early morning of May 24. According to Lexington police, people who live in neighborhoods off Route 2 and 128 filed the reports. “I just saw a couple cars coming down the street. Guys, maybe six guys going up the driveways, and going into the cars,” explained Adam Keene, who lives on Harding Road.

Ahead of Memorial Day, Massachusetts Fallen Heroes held its 10th annual rededication ceremony for the Massachusetts Fallen Heroes Memorial that stands in the heart of Boston’s Seaport District at Memorial Park. This year, one more name was added to the glass panels that display the names of the 332 Massachusetts service members who have died since the Global War on Terrorism. The name belonged to SSG. Jonathan Maine of the U.S. Army, who passed away on June 12, 2024, in Plymouth.

BOSTON — Travelers flying out of Boston’s Logan International Airport on Thursday are being urged to keep an eye on their flight status because a nasty nor’easter ahead of Memorial Day weekend could cause cancellations and delays. As of 3 p.m. Thursday, there were five 59 cancellations and 313 delays at Logan, according to FlightAware. Fifty-five of the cancellations were impacting Cape Air and 43 of the delays were related to JetBlue.
