Kim Duncan, 65, suffered a gunshot wound to her leg inside a home on Dickens Road in Ambarvale, south-west Sydney, at around 11pm on April 14. It's alleged the occupants of a black sedan fired nine shots into the home before driving off. It is understood that Duncan was in a front lounge room when a bullet hit her.Paramedics tried for about an hour to save her, but she died at the scene. Police have released CCTV footage appearing to show three men who were seen in the area at the time.

Police have issued a fresh plea for information over the unsolved murder of two women in NSW 25 years ago. Susan Kay, 32, and Joanne Teterin, 37, were both found dead inside a home on Doran Street in Carrington, a suburb of Newcastle in New South Wales, on May 17, 2000. A murder investigation started, but nobody has ever been arrested or charged in connection with their deaths. In 2003, a coronial inquest was held and the investigation was referred to the state's unsolved crime homicide team.

A teenager has been issued a caution by police after allegedly trying to enter an AFL match with a knife and imitation gun yesterday. The 15-year-old allegedly approached a gate at Docklands Stadium – now Marvel Stadium – on Bourke Street in Melbourne at around 4.30pm. When it became clear he did not have a ticket, nearby officers conducted a search. Police allege a small knife and an imitation firearm were discovered during the search. The teenager did not enter the venue, police confirmed.

Two quick-thinking police officers came to the rescue of a woman who was giving birth in a precinct carpark in Queensland's Moreton Bay. Queensland Police constables Jacob Pennisi and Philippe Stigner were arriving back at their station in Deception Bay at around 9.20am on March 1 when Nathaniel Pedler emerged and flagged them down.

The Shadow Minister for Indigenous Australians announced her candidacy in a statement today and officially endorsed Shadow Treasurer Angus Taylor for leader of the Liberal Party. "As I've said with respect to my decision to change party rooms, these are not matters which I take lightly, and this decision today brings with it a great deal of responsibility which I fully accept," Price said. "There is no question that returning to our roots as a party is critical right now.
