Poverty hurts everywhere but it is likely to hurt more if it is surrounded by the glitter of glamor and all kinds of richness, excess of wealth and the attached wastefulness. In such circumstances poverty not only hurts but also creates extreme confusion. This appears to be the condition of an increasing number of people in the USA deprived of basic needs, including housing and essential utilities. A deprived person in a poor country can understand his poverty and live with it in better ways.
