At long last, women’s lacrosse made its debut at USF. In its first game in program history, USF defeated Kennesaw State 19-6 at a packed Corbett Stadium Friday night. Bulls coach Mindy McCord was hired nearly three years ago. Since then, it’s been a constant cycle of recruiting and practice. On Friday, the moment finally came true. “It was just a surreal moment,” McCord said.

As the Bulls led by one with just over two minutes left in the third quarter, graduate guard Sammie Puisis buried a three that sent the Yuengling Center into a frenzy. From there, the Bulls (14-8, 7-2 AAC) carried the momentum en route to a 75-63 victory on Wednesday night. The win against UTSA (17-3, 8-1 AAC), who was at the top of the American Athletic Conference, marks the Bulls’ seventh victory in conference play. The 12-point loss marks the Roadrunner’s largest loss of the season.

USF’s men’s basketball team overcame a sluggish start in the 69-64 win over Rice Tuesday night, which was riddled with continued shortcomings and an injury. The Bulls, who trailed by as many as 13 points in the first half, found momentum late and relied on key contributions from their backcourt to complete the comeback. South Florida’s lineup adjustments also added to their challenges.

USF women’s lacrosse attacker Alison Harbaugh didn’t have a regular childhood. Harbaugh’s last name is something of sports royalty. Championships run in her blood. Her father – John – is one of the longest tenured head coaches in the NFL. He’s been the coach of the Baltimore Ravens since 2008, winning a Super Bowl in 2012.

USF men’s basketball has hit a rough patch in the last couple of weeks, dropping four of its last five games. As the Bulls’ 2024 football season has come to a close with a victory in the Hawaii Bowl, all eyes now look toward the many additions and losses from the transfer portal. The portal opened on Dec. 9 and closed on Dec. 28. Last year, USF welcomed 14 new transfers – five more than this year’s totalUSF has secured nine incoming transfers in 2025 so far. On the other hand, 16 USF players from last season’s roster entered the transfer portal – 14 of them already announcing their commitments.

A barely audible chorus of boos could be heard in the Yuengling Center when guard Jayden Reid’s three-point shot hit the back rim and into the waiting arms of a Tulsa defender. It was Reid’s sixth miss from deep with just over eleven minutes to play in the second half. The Bulls made just two of their 16 three-point attempts in the game. Minutes later, it would be Reid hyping up the crowd as the Bulls would rally from a 10-point deficit with five minutes left to beat Tulsa 63-56 on Saturday.

A quarterback with strong family ties, an Australian punter plus talent from all over the country. Those are some of the highlights from the 25 recruits that announced their intention to play for USF during the first day of early signing period on Wednesday. From those 25 players, 23 are high school recruits and one is from junior college. The remaining recruit is from Australia.
