EL CENTRO – With the departure of Assistant County Executive Officer Rebecca Terrazas-Baxter, who was announced as the incoming Brawley City Manager earlier this week, the County of Imperial will be tasked to fill in the vacant position. Imperial County Public Information Officer Eddie Lopez explained in an email that regarding the upcoming vacancy of the Assistant CEO position for the County of Imperial, Terrazas-Baxter will be departing on July 18, 2025.

EL CENTRO – The El Centro City Council has scheduled a special meeting on Tuesday afternoon to consider transferring El Centro Regional Medical Center assets to the Imperial Valley Healthcare District. The meeting’s open session has been scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m. on June 24. The council will meet in closed session at 12:30 p.m. to hold a conference with real property negotiators Eric Newsom and Megan Rooney with the Sheppard Mullin law firm.

EL CENTRO — A significant increase in pollution levels in the Imperial Valley was reported Thursday following a Tecate fire. On June 19, Calexico and Brawley experienced hazardous pollution levels, as indicated by alerts from the Imperial Valley Air Quality Alert system. At 10:00 p.m., Calexico’s Ethel Street monitoring station recorded a 360 AQI level of PM10, categorized as hazardous.
