This is Jazz News, a look at what’s news in jazz, music and the arts. A bit of jazz history was made in Denver last week, or at least revisited. In 1976, pianist Art Lande and multi-instrumentalist Mark Isham recorded the “Rubisa Patrol” album for the young German record label ECM. Lande and Isham reunited with reedman Bruce Williamson for the first time in 25 years at Dazzle. The sold-out affair was a kickoff event for the Denver Jazz Festival next April.

KUVO’s High School & Collegiate Series presents the Overland High School Jazz Band for an evening performance in the Masterpiece Studio on Tuesday, December 3 at 7 p.m. Overland High School (OHS) was founded in 1978 in Aurora and has a rich history of success and excellence in music. The OHS Band program continues this history by consistently receiving superior festival ratings.

On Sunday, November 24, at 11:30 a.m. Canción Mexican host Larry Lobato will talk with Quentin Rivera of Q Productions. Quentin will share details of the 1st Annual Rocky Mountain Toy Drive at Garibaldi Night Club in Greeley on December 7. Bring a toy valued at $15 or more to get free admission to the party. Otherwise, there will be a cover charge of $20. The event will include great music, raffles, and food.
