Those in the United Kingdom have plentiful opportunities this holiday season to see a traditional show known as a Christmas panto. A quick Google search reveals that London alone has a vast array of pantos throughout the city, and, across the British Isles and Ireland, the art form is an essential part of seasonal entertainment. Now, for the first time ever in Atlanta, Arís Theatre is going to show local audiences what all the fuss is about with “Cinderella: A Christmas Panto,” on stage Dec. 15-23.

The first time I watched Atlanta Ballet’s high-tech “The Nutcracker,”the one Yuri Possokhov choreographed for the company in 2018, I felt that the huge video projections and lavish busyness of the set design dwarfed and distracted from the dancers. I often found myself looking at the sets and videos and not at the dancing. I saw the full-length ballet again at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre on Saturday evening (it runs through December 26) and realized that’s the point.

Lauryn Hill and the Fugees have postponed their Monday night concert at State Farm Arena. The singer announced in an Instagram post today that she needs to postpone her remaining 2023 tour dates, with the exception of a Saturday show in Philadelphia, due to a vocal strain. “As many of you may know, I’ve been battling serious vocal strain for the past month,” she said in the post.

In early January 2021, Paul Muldawer used his cellphone to record his tastefully appointed, midcentury modern living room in Buckhead. The 14-second video captured his couch draped with an afghan, a quilt hung on the wall, a coffee table topped with Moulthrop hand-turned wood bowls, a picture window.
