On March 31, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced the appointment of 21 members to Florida’s Judicial Nominating Commissions. One of the appointees is Spring Hill’s own Matthew A. Foreman, Esquire. Foreman is truly a hometown representative, having grown up in the county and attending Springstead High School. From there, he attended Stetson University in Deland, Florida and graduated from Stetson’s College of Law in 2008.

On March 20-23, members from Pasco Hernando State College’s Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) club attended the State Leadership Conference held in Orlando. The event, which was held at the Doubletree SeaWorld, saw various Bobcats win awards over the weekend. These honors ranged from winning the Rob Kelleher Scholar Award to nabbing silver for cybersecurity to placing fourth in Organizational Leadership and Management.

SPRING HILL – It was a momentous day for education in Hernando County. The Wilton Simpson Technical College officially opened its doors on April 2 to educators, leaders, and media members from around the state. Wednesday’s grand opening started with the presentation of the colors by Springstead’s Color Guard before Florida Agricultural Commissioner Wilton Simpson, the institution’s namesake, gave more details on the project’s inception.

SPRING HILL – On Thursday afternoon, the Central Bears (2-9) blanked the Springstead Eagles (0-13) across singles and doubles matches. The Bears took the matchup 7-0 at Delta Woods Park thanks to strong outings from Senior Amelie Howell and company. Having lost four seniors due to graduation, this year has seen the Bears in rebuilding mode, and the returning players have been elevated into leadership roles.

BROOKSVILLE – On Tuesday night, the Nature Coast Sharks (10-3) rode a strong second half to a 25-6 victory over the Anclote Sharks (3-12) on senior night. Following a scoreless first half for both schools of sharks, the squad in Columbia Blue would go on to convert four out of five drives into points after the break. Nature Coast Head Coach Ian Wald noted the key change that led to the uptick in productivity. “Offensively, I felt like we were doing well in the first half,” he said.
