    The Howe family is peeling out of the Greybull Car Show after 12 years enjoying the ride. Its organizer, Mike Howe, started the event based on a misunderstanding. Howe had attended the tug-o-war one Days of ’49 and made a comment along the lines of, “Well, now the weekend is over, let’s do something fun. Somebody should start a car show.”Somehow it got to then-mayor Bob Graham, who approached Howe and told him somebody said he wanted to start a car show. “That’s not what I said,” Howe replied.

    The Town of Manderson is facing the Division of Criminal Investigation following their audit from the 2022 fiscal year, with the possibility of fraud to be evaluated. The audit, conducted by the Public Funds Division of the State of Wyoming Department of Audit, found significant internal control weaknesses, lack of governing body oversight, accuracy issues with the town’s census report, accounting errors and information technology weaknesses that may have led to missing money.

    Curt Good’s legacy rides on as the late Greybull cowboy has been selected as this year’s Days of ’49 grand marshal. “I guarantee he would absolutely love this,” said his daughter, Misty Good Hernandez. Curt moved to Greybull in 1981 to work for MI Drilling and the Good family was always a part of Days of ’49 when Misty and her brother Robert Good were growing up; all the cousins would saddle up and ride their horses through town with the parade each year.

    The Greybull Car Show will see it’s 12th Days of ’49 this weekend, with cars available for viewing on Main Street from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 14. “We’re trying to get 100 cars this year; I think we’re going to make it,” organizer Mike Howe said. Last year the car show boasted 98 classic and custom cars. It has seen many out-of-state and local participants over its time. This year, Howe noted that a 2003 Thunderbird from Rigby, Idaho will be new to the event.

    A 59-year-old Montana man was found dead, seemingly of self-inflicted wounds, in the Bighorn Mountains on Sunday, May 25. According to Big Horn County Sheriff Ken Blackburn, Keith Paris and his family were visiting a family cabin near Sitting Bull Campground on Memorial Day weekend. Paris set off on a short hike around noon on Saturday, May 24 and went missing. His family searched for him independently until about 6 p.m., when they called Big Horn County Search and Rescue.
