Avelo Airlines said that its recent deal with the federal government to operate deportation flights will not affect service out of Glacier Park International Airport. The budget airline recently entered a long-term charter agreement with the Department of Homeland Security’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency to charter three Boeing 737-800s out of Mesa Gateway Airport in Arizona beginning on May 12, according to a statement from Courtney Goff, spokesperson for Avelo Airlines.

Kalispell City Council on Monday expected to mull over potential improvements to the city’s equipment garage. Council meets on April 14 at 7 p.m. in City Hall, 201 First Ave. E. The garage houses over 325 pieces of city equipment from fire engines and dump trucks to police cruisers and traffic signs, according to a brief city memo from Public Works Director Susie Turner. The equipment is serviced by three mechanics.

Apr. 13—Reducing the thoroughfare to three lanes of traffic, allowing for widened sidewalks to accommodate strolling shoppers and tables for dinners outside of restaurants, is part of Kalispell's future vision for Main Street. With that concept in hand after the City Council adopted the Main Street Safety Action Plan in August, Kalispell is now considering a federal grant to fund a redesign of the road, along with First Avenue East and First Avenue West.

Apr. 13—I see the number five written on the back of my hand and my heart sinks. It feels like I had just been chosen to compete in "The Hunger Games," as depicted in best-selling author Suzanne Collins' dystopian series. The number scrawled in permanent marker had just thrown me that much closer to my fate, which in this case luckily wasn't one resulting in brutal death, but rather a potential icy plunge.
