    A 28-year-old Tikipunga man has been charged with committing burglary with a weapon, presenting a firearm at a person and unlawful possession of a firearm. A Northland man faces serious charges after an alleged theft of alcohol involving a gun. A Whangārei CIB investigation has been under way since the alleged aggravated burglary at a Maungatapere property on Monday night. Detective Sergeant Pieter Serfontein said two offenders arrived at the property about 8.30pm.

    Missing fisherman Ferzil Babu and his parents Babu George and Laila Babu. It’s nearly four months since Laila Babu lost her son to the sea after he went fishing off the coast of Northland, a feeling she says is “indescribable” as the fisherman remains missing. On May 1, her son Ferzil Babu, 34, and his friend Sarath Kumar, 37, went fishing at Taiharuru at a spot known as The Gap. After the pair failed to contact their families by 11pm, emergency services conducted a search and rescue operation.

    Police are investigating after a caravan was reported stolen from a property on Kerikeri Inlet Road. A “one-of-a-kind” caravan nicknamed Pixie bought by a Far North local to remember her late dad has been stolen. Vicky Houry said she was devastated when she found out her 1973 Oxford caravan had been taken from her mum’s farm property in Kerikeri on Thursday morning.

    Search warrants led police to arrest four people after a Northland store got robbed. Four men have been arrested following the aggravated robbery of a Waipapa electronics store earlier this month. Northland police were alerted to a group of offenders entering the store near Kerikeri armed with weapons, threatening staff and customers on August 4. On Tuesday morning Mid North CIB executed simultaneous search warrants in the Wainui Valley area and arrested four people.
