AUGUSTA, Maine (WGME) -- Activists are calling on Maine Rep. Jared Golden and other state legislators to oppose any efforts to raise taxes. A protest at the State House on Wednesday aims to renew the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, which passed into law in 2017. This law lowered the corporate tax rate from 35% to 21% and made changes to the individual tax code, which also includes small businesses. This is set to expire on December 31, 2025.

PORTLAND, Maine (WGME) -- Fifty wishes across the country are set to be granted this week at Walt Disney World, including a few from Make-A-Wish Maine. A special wish was granted for not one, not two, but three Maine Make-A-Wish kids on Monday. Fourteen-year-old Kaitlyn Ha, four-year-old Adelaide Hooker, and four-year-old Georgia Kelley are all heading to Walt Disney World for a weeklong celebration. "Speechless.

PORTLAND, Maine (WGME) -- Portland Public Health says it's expanding its STI testing availability with new walk-in hours starting on Monday. Starting on Monday, people can come by on Mondays without an appointment from 9 a.m. through noon. Health care professionals say it comes at a crucial time as staff continues to monitor an HIV outbreak in Penobscot County. There's been 23 cases since October of 2023.
