Last year we were fortunate to bring you guys coverage of one of the coolest competitions of the entire year for us from Pamplona, Spain. You might remember the athletes running on the streets where the running of the bulls take place, lifting stones reminiscent of some Basque area strongman sport, Karin Frey asserting dominance on the field, and an incredible battle between Uldis Upenieks and Aniol Ekai on the men’s side. Well, the competition is back, with a new name, at the same venue.

In the sport of functional fitness, Sunday is known for being the most dramatic and ruthless day. The athletes know what is at stake, and they know that the points left up for grabs are quickly dwindling. Sunday of TYR Wodapalooza Miami was one of the best of them. The Boys showed up in a big way, eager to prove that they weren’t “washed up” athletes and could still hang with the young men.

We are playing catch-up for a few “Friend of the Week” announcements as we got extremely busy during the Quarterfinal stage and we also wanted to wait for the CrossFit Games Quarterfinal leaderboard to finalize. But at the end, just like we did in the CrossFit Open, we decided to go with two athletes including our first repeat athlete. Jonne Koski becomes our first repeat weekly award winner and he’s joined by superstar Emma Lawson as recipients for the two week period of April 15-28, 2024.

Before the CrossFit Games season Semifinals get underway, we will be in Greece for the Athens Throwdown for one of the biggest competitions in Europe. The competition is set to host over 1200 athletes on two competition floors over three days of action.
