Many of us feel we want to do something, but we don’t know what to do on the larger stage and we’re not sure what to do for ourselves and those around us. Many people have raised the question of whether and how meditation, mindfulness, and awareness can help us right now.

Every Friday for the past two months, together with a couple of friends I’ve enlisted, I’ve been spending half the day going through stuff and sending it away—either to donation bins, friends, recycling, or the landfill. Don’t get me wrong. This is not a Marie Kondo-type thing. I’ve got a long way to go before my place would reach the pinnacle of utter simplicity she asks us to aspire to. I’m also not a hoarder, though.

Angry is not a good look. That’s what we mostly think, but anger is there just the same. We all have it. And it’s multi-faceted. It can lurk ready to strike and then burst out all of a sudden in a volcanic eruption. It can also simmer on the back burner. Or linger as a persistent chill that can be felt more than seen. It is an awesome, powerful emotion. And it won’t be denied. The problematic aspect of anger is pretty clear. Unleashed, it can be immeasurably destructive.
