After two months of rehab, an injured bald eagle was released at an Hillsboro park. Volunteers with an animal rescue organization found the eagle at Rood Bridge Park on Feb. 2 with an injured leg. The organization OCCRA, On-Call Community Rescue for Animals, followed up on a report that an eagle was grounded in the park. They captured the animal and handed him off to Dove Lewis Animal Hospital in Portland, and then the Bird Alliance of Oregon moved the bird to its Wildlife Care Center.

A robbery suspect appeared in Multnomah County court on Friday to face a new murder charge stemming from a deadly shooting. On Thursday, a grand jury indicted Mamadee Keita, 28, on a second-degree murder charge, five other felonies, and 13 misdemeanor charges. The shooting occurred in the early morning hours of July 7, 2024, near Southeast 9th Avenue and Ankeny Street. Walter Mulberry, 49, was shot and later died at a hospital. He was working security at the time of the shooting.

On Tuesday evening, the county sheriff's office declared the floodwater, which infiltrated a number of homes, had tested positive for multiple bacteria. Water collected on Monday returned positive results for E. coli.
