Cuckoo is a film that feels like it was kicked out of the nest too soon. It’s full of potential, from the cast to the visuals to the sound, but the delivery is shaky. The familiar-feeling beginning sees Gretchen (the entrancing Hunter Schafer), a 17-year-old who’s recently experienced the loss of her mother, relocate with her father and his new family from the U.S. to the German Alps to live and work at a resort.

Hanky Panky is a delightfully unserious horror movie crammed with comedy. From the minds of Nick Roth and Lindsey Haun, the film follows a man and a talking napkin who are on a mission to save the world from an evil top hat. And as the promotional material proudly declares, four minutes of the 86-minute runtime features a fight between said napkin and top hat. Suffice it to say, Hanky Panky is self-aware in its mission, which is as much about honoring Cheers as it is about making fun art.
